Although profitability is usually the primary objective of every commercial organization, yet attainment of national self-reliance in health care and to lessen the outflow of precious foreign exchange by investing in the local pharmaceutical industry are the two other factors that led to the establishment of a model pharmaceutical unit in Pakistan. Benson Pharmaceuticals was formed in 1995 but work on ground started during the last quarter of 1996. By the grace of God, guidance of Federal Ministry of Health (now known as Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan) and consultation of professionals, today Benson Pharmaceuticals stands right in the heart of Islamabad’s Industrial Area. Since establishment, Benson has made its presence felt in the pharmaceutical industry of the country. Benson manufactures quality drugs for human consumption which include tablets, capsules dry-powder suspensions & injectables under various therapeutic classes. Benson is not only a key player in the local pharmaceutical market but holds a major stake in supplying quality drugs to large government institutions & programmes which include the Pakistan Defence Forces, National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases and the National Programme for Family Planning & Primary Health Care, only to name a few. Destination countries for export include Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia and Afghanistan with product registrations pending in others.
